Two British women arrived on Australia’s east coast on Saturday after a grueling journey rowing across the Pacific Ocean from Peru.

Jess Rowe and Miriam Payne ran their boat in two-hour shifts, fishing and growing their own vegetables to support themselves along the way.

The duo say they are the first all-female crew to travel an estimated 13,000 km (about 8,000 miles) crossing the Pacific Ocean non-stop and unsupported.

Leaving Peru in April this year, they arrived to cheers from supporters in Cairns, Australia on October 18. They spoke to the BBC about their experience shortly after completing their journey.

The video was produced by Ottilie Mitchell.
