Colorado officials examine the death of journalist Hunter in Thompson 20 years after being suicide at the request of his widow.
Thompson died at the age of 67 at his home in Woody Creek, Colorado, a small town north of Aspen, in February 2005.
The Colorado Investigation Bureau on Tuesday said he was conducting a “review” of the 2005 investigation into his death, although the agency said it was not the result of new evidence.
“When we bring an external agency for a new appearance, we hope to provide a final and transparent examination that can offer peace of mind to his family and public,” Colorado Sheriff Michael Bulione.
Buglione added that Thompson had a “deep impact” on his community and beyond.
Thompson was a well -known writer and journalist who wrote about dozens of retail outlets, including Rolling Stone, Playboy and ESPN. His 1971 novel, “Fear and Disgust in Las Vegas – Semi -Certobiographical History of the Counter -Culture of the 60s – later adapted in a film starring Johnny Depp.
Other books are Hells Angels and a generation of pigs.
Colorado employees said they did not have a time line to investigate Thompson’s death and would provide an update after it’s over.
Thompson died of a self -inflicted firearms while talking on the phone with his wife.
Later, his son found his body in the kitchen, according to news reports.
An investigation into his death did not find evidence of a fake game.
