“I don’t like you either”

An Australian reporter asked US President Donald Trump whether past comments by their ambassador to Washington had influenced his views on Prime Minister Anthony Albanese’s administration.

That ambassador, who sat opposite Trump during a meeting with the Australian delegation, is former prime minister Kevin Rudd.

In 2020, Rudd wrote on social media that he believed Trump was the “most destructive” president in US history.

Those comments were deleted in November 2024 after Trump’s election victory, saying he did so “out of respect” for the office of president.

Trump didn’t seem to recognize Rudd at the table, but after introducing himself, Trump quickly made his point.

“I don’t like you, and I probably never will,” he said.
