Rodrigo Duterte is accused of being criminally responsible for dozens of murders

Former Filipino President Rodrigo Duterte has been charged with crimes against humanity by the International Criminal Court (ICC).

The 80-year-old has been accused of being criminally responsible for dozens of murders, claiming to have taken place as part of his so-called warfare war, during which thousands of small drug dealers, consumers and others have been killed without court.

The ICC taxon sheet, which includes several edits, dates back to July, but was only announced on Monday.

ICC Deputy Prosecutor Mama Mandiai Niang said Dutner was an “indirect associate” in the killings, which the court claims to have been committed by others, including police.

The first census against the Duterte refers to his alleged participation in the killings of 19 people in the city of Dado between 2013 and 2016 while he was mayor there.

The other two accusations refer to the times when he was president of the Philippines, between 2016 and 2022, and began his so -called war against drugs.

The second census refers to the murders of 14 “goals of high value” across the country, while the third refers to the murder and attempt to kill 45 people in the surgery for the permission of the village.

Prosecutors referred to how Mr. Duterte and his alleged co-artists shared a general plan or agreement to “neutralize” the alleged criminals in the Philippines (including those perceived or claim to be related to drug, sale or production) through violent crimes, including murder. ”

He did not offer any excuses for his brutal drug fighting, which killed more than 6,000 people – although activists believe the true figure can come across tens of thousands.

Duterte said he had broken down on drug dealers to save the country of street crimes.

Rodrigo Duterte is the first Asian former head of state to be accused by the ICC – and the first suspect to be taken to the Hague in the Netherlands – where the court is based – after more than three years. He has been in custody there since March.

The lawyer told him that Dutterte was not able to judge because of poor health.

In May, the former president was again elected mayor of Dado, even though he was in prison. His son Sebastian (who has been mayor since 2022) continues as a mayor instead of his father.

Proponents of G -N -Duterte claim that ICC is used as a political instrument by the current president of the country, Ferdinand Marcos, who publicly fell into the powerful Dutner family.

ICC effectively has no right to arrest people without the cooperation of the countries they are in, which is most often refused-Marcos has previously rejected the idea of cooperation with ICC.
