Apple’s latest iOS update, available for eligible devices starting Monday, doesn’t introduce any major features, but it does bring one highly-requested tweak: the ability to change the transparency of the Transparent Liquid Glass design.

If you don’t like the look of iOS 26, the only thing you can do so far is reduce the transparency through the accessibility settings, which has almost turned off the liquid glass overlay. With iOS 26.1, we now have a new menu for retaining appearance while increasing opacity.

you can go Settings > Display & Brightness > Liquid Glass To select either the original “clear” option or the more opaque “tinted” option. You can see a preview of each option while you are selecting them.

The liquid was glass The company’s biggest design overhaul yet Since its a move Flat design in 2013But as with most changes of this scale and significance, not everyone was on board.

Some people said the more transparent design made parts of the interface hard to read, including in-app notifications or navigation controls, while others touted their love of detail and the new look, which felt like a much-needed update to an interface that had grown stale over the years.

In addition to transparency settings, iOS 26.1 lets you change what gestures trigger on the home screen: you now get an option to open the camera app by swiping left on the lockscreen. Change it as you go Swipe Settings > Camera > Lock screen to open the camera.

iOS 26.1 gives users the ability to capture audio and video locally while recording a video call. This can be useful if you’re recording a call or podcast while on the move. The company has announced for this feature iPadOS in June During the Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC).
