The United Kingdom, France and Germany called on Iran not to escalate tensions and continue negotiations after the UN sanctions were restored on Saturday.
The three countries said they had no “choice” except to return measures against Tehran “as a last resort” because of its “prolonged nuclear escalation” and lack of cooperation.
“We urge Iran to refrain from any escalating action,” they said in a joint statement, adding: “The restoration of UN sanctions is not the end of diplomacy.”
Iran President Masud Petsshian insisted last week that the country did not intend to develop nuclear weapons and condemned the re -imposition of international sanctions as “unjust, unfair and illegal.”
The increasing economic and military sanctions of the United Nations were restored to Iran at 00:00 GMT on Saturday – a decade after they were canceled in a remarkable international deal because of its nuclear program.
Iran has increased the ban on nuclear activity after the US left the deal in 2016. Donald Trump took the United States in his first term as a president, criticizing the deal – the joint comprehensive plan of action (JCPOA) – agreed under his predecessor, Barack Obama, as insufficient.
The talks between the three countries and Iran on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly earlier this week failed to conclude a deal that would delay the sanctions that would be restored.
In a joint statement at the beginning of Sunday, foreign ministers of the three European countries, known as E3, said: “Given that Iran repeatedly violates these commitments, E3 has no choice but yes Activate the click procedureAt the end of which these resolutions were returned into force. “
In the meantime, they said they would “continue to pursue diplomatic routes and negotiations.”
They cited Iran’s inability to “take the necessary action to deal with our concerns, nor to fulfill our demands for expansion, despite the extensive dialogue.”
Moreover, they mentioned Tehran’s refusal to cooperate with the UN nuclear guard.
“Iran has not authorized the IAEE inspectors to regain access to Iran’s nuclear sites, nor has it produced and handed over to the IAEA report, taking into account its stock of highly enriched uranium,” the statement said.
Iran terminated the inspection of MAAE after Israel and the United States bombard some of her nuclear objects and military bases in June.
Iran is legally obliged under the nuclear contract to authorize checks on its nuclear sites, and on Friday, the IAE confirmed that they had resumed. But although Iran talks to Maa to find a way forward, he also warned that the return of sanctions would put it in danger.
Pezeshkian returned from his earlier threats to Iran to leave the non-proliferation agreement.
But, Speaking to reporters on FridayHe added that Tehran would need assurances that his nuclear facilities would not be attacked by Israel to normalize his nuclear enrichment program.
He also rejected the US request to hand over all Iran reserves from enriched uranium in exchange for a quarterly release from sanctions, saying: “Why would we get into such a trap and every month we have a loop around our neck?”
Iran said on Saturday that he recalls his ambassadors to the UK, France and Germany for consultation.
