A new fleet aimed at the Gaza Strip with food and medical supplies on board is captured by Israeli forces.
Nine ships and 150 people have been stopped in international waters, according to the Freedom Flotilla coalition and thousands of Madley to Gaza, who jointly lead the operation.
“Another useless attempt to violate the legal naval blockade and enter the battle zone ended with nothing,” said the Israeli Foreign Ministry.
Last week, the military in Israel stopped convoy with the help of 42 boats with 479 propalist activists on board, including the Swedish climate campaign Greta Tunberg. Almost all are deported, with six reporting to be still in detention.
The organizers of the new experience initially stated that three of its boats were captured in the early hours of Wednesday morning, at 120 nautical miles off the coast of Gaza.
Within hours, live tracking showed that all nine boats were stopped.
The Israeli government said “ships and passengers are transferred to an Israeli port. All passengers are safe and in good health,” the Israeli government said.
“Passengers are expected to be deported immediately.”
The 150 passengers welcome from a wide range of countries, including Turkey, whose Foreign Ministry called the intervention “serious violation of international law” and “act of piracy”.
The Israeli military launched a campaign in Gaza in response to an attack led by Hamas against southern Israel on October 7, 2023, which killed about 1,200 people and 251 others were hostage.
At least 67 183 people have been killed in Israeli attacks in Gaza since then, according to the health ministry in the territory.
Israel has maintained a naval blockade off the coast of Gaza since 2007, when Hamas took control of the tape.
Hamas Health Ministry in Gaza said at least 460 Palestinians had been killed by the effects of malnutrition since the beginning of the war, including a large number in the city of Gaza, which is at the center of the Israeli military campaign in recent weeks.
The classification of the Integrated Food Security Phase (IPC), which is supported by the United Nations organization, has confirmed that there is a hunger in the city of Gaza and warned that it could spread within weeks.
Israel disputes the findings of IPC. He insists that he is acting in accordance with international law and facilitates the entry of assistance into Gaza.
