The Italian Defense Minister has condemned what he said is a drone attack overnight by unidentified fleet perpetrators, trying to break Israel’s naval blockade in Gaza to deliver help.

Guido Crosetto also said he had ordered an Italian Navy frigan to head to the 52 boats in the global Sumud Flotilla (GSF), which are mainly off the coast of Crete to help Italian citizens on board.

GSF said several boats report explosions and unidentified objects, as well as drones over head and communications. He accused Israel of “dangerous escalation”.

The Israeli government has not commented. But before that he said he would not allow the fleet to reach his destination.

Sumud Flotilla’s global campaign has caught the imagination in Italy as several Italian politicians are aboard boats.

MP Arturo Scoto described “sound bombs, flashmans”, while MEP Benedetta Scauderie spoke about three hours of incidents, which suggested that he could cause serious injuries.

Unlucky video surveillance video footage published by GSF showed a man on board a yacht that jumps on the deck after what looked in an explosion nearby. A second video was also evident an explosion that GSF said was shot by the vascular spectrum.

An initial GSF statement was said to have been heard at least 13 explosions on and around a few boats south of Crete and that there were reports of objects that were placed on at least 10 drones or other planes, causing no damage.

Later, the attacks included the deployment of explosive and ignition devices, deliberate dispersion of chemicals on civilian ships, disable emergency communication devices, and calculated physical damage designed to make ships restless and threatening volunteers on board. “

Boat passengers said they had requested help from the Greek coast guard.

A source of the coast guards told Greece’s AMNA news agency that a Portuguese ship from the European Union Border Agency, Frontex, was sent to the area, but that it had not found evidence of material damage to the boats.

The Swedish climate change campaign Greta Tunberg, who is among the famous propalist activists involved in the fleet, called the incident “frightening tactics”.

“We were aware of the risks of this type of attack, so this is not something that will stop us,” she said in a conversation with Francesca Albanese, the special UN rapporteur of the Palestinian territories.

“We are very, very determined to continue our mission.”

On Monday, the Israeli Foreign Ministry claims that the fleet was “organized by Hamas”.

“Israel will not allow the ships to enter an active battle zone and will not allow the violation of a legal naval blockade,” she warned.

“If the real desire of the fleet participants is to provide humanitarian aid rather than serve Hamas, Israel calls on the vessels to dock in the port of Ashkelon and unload the assistance where it will be transferred immediately in a coordinated manner to the Gaza tape.”

GSF said its goal was to “interrupt the illegal siege of gas by sea, to open a humanitarian corridor and to complete the ongoing genocide of the Palestinian people.”

Two weeks ago, she reported that two ships were directed to separate drone attacks while anchored outside Tunisia. The Tunisian authorities said they were investigating allegations.

In June, Tunberg was one of 12 people aboard a gas -linked ship Caught by the Israeli forces about 185 km west of Gaza GazaS

Another court carrying 21 people, Handala, was It caught about 75 km from gas in JulyS

GSF boats sail after experts from the supported phase of the integrated food security phase (IPC) has confirmed that there is a hunger in the city of Gaza and warned that it could spread to central and southern Gaza within weeks.

Hamas Health Ministry in Gaza said at least 440 Palestinians had died in the consequences of malnutrition since the beginning of the war, including 162 after the declaration of hunger.

A spokesman for the UN Human Rights Chief Volker Turk said he had called on Israel to “change the gas blockade urgently and to allow life -saving materials through all possible means.”

As occupied power, he added, Israel “must guarantee nutritional and medical supplies to the population to the largest extent of available means or to facilitate impartial humanitarian relief schemes delivered quickly and without obstacles.”

Israel insists that it works in accordance with international law and facilitates the entry to assistance.

He also challenged the findings of the IPC and the digits of the Ministry of Health and categorically denied the claim – the most recently of the UN investigation – that his powers had carried out a genocide against the Palestinians in Gaza.

The right-wing government of Italian Prime Minister Georgy Meloni in Italy has until recently been seen as one of Israel’s closest allies in Europe, but Rome’s language for the Gaza war quickly solidified, largely because of internal political pressure.

Public opinion polls show a change in attitudes against Israel, and two days ago, the unions were able to call tens of thousands of Italians on the streets of up to 80 cities and cities in protest.

Although Italy has not joined the United Kingdom and France in the recognition of the Palestinian state, Meloni has already approached much closer to its position. She suggested that she did not oppose the proposal in parliament, recognizing Palestine, as long as Hamas released all the hostages and was excluded from “all government processes.”

The Israeli military launched a campaign in Gaza in response to an attack led by Hamas against southern Israel on October 7, 2023, which killed about 1,200 people and 251 others were hostage.

At least 65 419 people have been killed in Israeli attacks in Gaza since then, according to the health ministry in the territory.
