More than 20 people have been rescued in Kenya by a suspect ring for human trafficking, who lures them with job offers in Russia, but intends to send them to fight in Ukraine, police said.

This is followed by an attack led by a residential apartment intelligence on the outskirts of the capital, Nairobi, where officers seized recruitment materials, travel documents and job offering.

A suspect, accused of coordinating the victims’ journey to Russia in September and October, has been arrested.

He was taken to court, which allowed him to be detained for 10 days while police were completing their investigations.

There are increasing concerns about the increasing number of Kenyans who have been trafficked abroad in promises of counterfeit jobs.

Authorities reported that the arrest on Wednesday followed a coordinated operation for many security agency aimed at the criminal network, which blackmails huge sums of desperate job seekers.

A total of 22 Kenyans were found in an apartment in the Ati River area, “in anticipation of processing to Russia.”

Police said the “mysterious traffic union” lures the Kenyans with job offers in Moscow just to send them to fight for the Russian military in Ukraine.

Detectives said the victims revealed that they had signed contracts with an unnamed employment agency abroad, committed to paying up to $ 18,000 (13,000 British pounds) for visas, trips, accommodation and other logistics.

Some of the victims also indicated that they had already paid $ 1,500 deposits.

After being appointed, police said many were returning home, injured, injured, or in some cases never returning it.

Two Kenyans have been reported to have recently returned, with one currently admitted to a city hospital.

A senior official at the Foreign Ministry has recently stated that the Kenyan government is following reports of several Kenyan citizens who claim to have been trafficking in Russia and have now been held prisoners of war in Ukraine.

Citizens of Somalia, Sierra Leone, Togo, Cuba and Sri Lanka, among others, are currently being held in Ukrainian prisoners of war, Pet Jasenko, a spokesman for Ukraine about the treatment of prisoners of war, has recently told the BBC.

However, speaking of other prisoners of the war, he added that “most African countries show little interest in returning such citizens and did not want to bring them back.”
