ReutersUS President Donald Trump said Kiev could “win all Ukraine back in his original form,” noting a major change in his position in the war with Russia.
In a publication on his social platform for the truth, he said that Ukraine could return the “original borders from where this war began” with the support of Europe and NATO due to pressure on the economy of Russia.
His comments came after talks with Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski, held after Trump turned to the UN General Assembly in New York on Tuesday.
Trump has repeatedly expressed his desire to end the war, but before that he warned that the process would probably include Ukraine to abandon some territory, the result of Zelenski has consistently rejected.
In his post, Trump added that Ukraine could “even go further than that”, but did not specify what he meant.
He also did not refer to the Crimea, who had invaded and annexed by Russia in 2014. Russia began fully invading Ukraine in 2022.
Trump said his position had changed “after acquainting and fully understood the military and economic situation of Ukraine/Russia.”
“Putin and Russia are in major economic problems and this is the moment of Ukraine to act,” he added, labeling Russia as a “paper tiger”.
Zelenski welcomed the “big change” to Trump’s position and speaking to reporters in the UN building, said the United States is ready to guarantee security to Ukraine, “after the war is over.”
Pressed what this would look like, he added, “I don’t want to lie, we have no specific details,” but looked at the possibility of more weapons, air protection and drones.
Earlier on Tuesday, after his speech to the UN, Trump also stated that NATO nations should take down Russian planes violating their airspace after a series of recent invasions from Russian fighters and drones.
Last week, Estonia and Poland demanded a consultation with other NATO members after Russia violated its airspace in individual incidents. Romania, another NATO member, also said the Russian drones had broken his airspace.
Russia denied violating Estonia’s airspace while insisting that the Polish invasion was not intentional and did not comment on the incident in Romania.
Asked if the United States would support its NATO allies if they download Russian planes, Trump said “depends on the circumstance” and praised the Military Union for increasing defense costs.
“NATO has intensified,” he said, citing an agreement to the leaders of Increase Defense Costs Up to 5% of their countries’ economic products by 2035
In his speech hours, Trump criticized some NATO members for not terminating the purchase of Russian energy, stating that they “finance war against themselves.”

The social post about Tuesday is a person after Trump spent most of the year, insisting that Ukraine’s situation was terrible.
In February Trump told Zelenski during Their fiery oval office exchange The fact that he “had no cards at the moment” to prevail against a larger, larger nation in war of wear.
Before talking to Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska in August, Trump said he would Try to return some territory for Ukraine But he warned that there would be “some exchange, changes in the ground.”
He was reported that he was planning to press Zelenski to hand over the whole Eastern Ukrainian regions of Donetsk and Luhansk in exchange for Russia, freezing the rest of the front line – a proposal proposed by Putin in Alaska.
Trump has also repeatedly threatened to impose more advanced measures on Russia, but so far he has failed to take any action when the Kremlin has neglected its deadlines and threats of sanctions.
Unpreparability has long been one of the trademarks of the US President’s foreign policy and perhaps this last move is an attempt to shake peace talks, which have been stagnant for more than a month after Trump hosted Russian President Vladimir Putin at a summit in Alaska.
The most remarkable part of Trump’s post may be the way it ends – with confidence that the US will continue to sell NATO weapons that it can then move to Ukraine.
This is not a seemingly close commitment to military efforts that the Biden administration provides, but it is more than Trump seemed interested in offering at times this year.
