The switch has 10 vibration modes (five internal and five external) with 16 intensity levels. I wasn’t into patterns, but if you are, you have plenty to choose from. But it’s the 16 intensity levels that deserve a round of applause. You can move the switch from the faintest hum to such a powerful pitch that your feet tremble before the vibrations are alone.
The one I was most excited about was using the switch with a partner who has a vulva. The Lelo app was easy to use, allowing my partner and I to take turns controlling the toy for each other, but the double-ended design, each with a motor and its own type of sensation, allowed the real fun to begin.
I’m not going to try to sell you on the switch being easier to use between two valves at the same time, because it isn’t. Instead, it’s a bit tricky, because it’s fairly short (total length 8.5 inches), so you have to find the best way to do it that’s comfortable for both partners. Hot tip: People with strong legs (moi) should be at the top to use both ends together as seamlessly as possible. My partner and I found it funny and a bit awkward trying to get ourselves into the best possible position, but what is sex and intimacy without some silliness?
Even if you’re rolling solo, Switch has something for everyone, regardless of your gender or how you identify. I’ve yet to meet anyone with a penis who doesn’t like some stick vibration thrown into the mix—against the scrotum, along the perineum, or directly into the glans. Plus, a lot of penis drivers I know enjoy some (or a lot) anal penetration with a vibrating dildo, so the Switch covers that, too. And, like a wand, a vibrating dildo can be used in places other than the genitals. In other words, never be afraid to be creative about how you stimulate and achieve the best pleasure for you.

In addition to the proprietary charger, which if you don’t already have a Lelo sex toy, which can be a total pain to just lose, the Switch has another thing I wasn’t too keen on: a timer on run time. I’m all for conserving energy and reducing my carbon footprint, but if a toy is geared toward a person—like one with a vulva—that can take up to 20 minutes to get excited, and it shuts off automatically, that can be problematic.
It’s based on inactivity, but if you’re like me and find a steady intensity that works and doesn’t mess with it, you might find yourself interrupting. Losing an orgasm isn’t the end of the world, but when you are That’s off? oops
The Switch is 100 percent waterproof, holds a charge for two hours (after roughly the same time it takes to fully charge), and is app-controlled. With the app, you get two additional vibration modes, which might be some incentive to try it out, though the app isn’t required to enjoy the Switch.
