Local residents are using TikTok to receive donations for the victims of the LA fires

A street vendor and volunteers have harnessed the power of social media to help those affected by the wildfires in Los Angeles.

Jimmy Medina Jr. said a live stream on TikTok led to generous donations that allowed him to buy supplies and feed people from his hotdog cart.

“Through the power of TikTok, all our TikTok viewers sent us donations… with their donations we can buy all the ingredients,” said Mr. Medina Jr.

Clothes and other essentials are also being distributed at a donation center set up in a parking lot at Santa Anita Park, Arcadia.
