In 2007, the Italian police arrested Salvatore Lo Piccolo.
This guy was the real boss from the real life of the Sicilian mafia.
As they explored his house, they came across what they believed were their Official “10 commandments” of their crew.
In other words, “If you want to be a good mobster, follow them 10 simple steps!”
These rules certainly do not cover any decision that each Mobile should do every day every day, but they are rules that someone can learn, internalize and apply when they find themselves in an unsafe state and are not sure how to act.
The mafia is not the only crew that has rules.
Ancient Samurai in Japan, “Bushido” aka “had a path of warriors.” 8 rules for their personal behavior code:
By the way, knights in medieval Europe, they had a “chivalry code”, who covered things like “Protection of weak and poor, kindness and respect, courage and military abilities.”
Maximus Decimal Meridius in Gladiator and his colleagues soldiers have always chosen each other from “strength and honor”.
In 300, Spartan soldiers knew they “returned home with their shield or on it.”
We have NERD Fitness Rebellion Rules Also!
I bring these rules because we may not be mafia, knights or samurai …
But I bet I add some rules to your life could help.
Life is complicated, and our brains are capable of talking to us in and from different decisions.
However, when we have a rule, it allows us to make a clear choice, not to swipe over it.
More importantly. We can make a rule once, and then we don’t have to spend any must or will in every decision later.
Here is a fast example:
Most successful popular diets is simply a list of rules that people follow that Call them to eat less calories.
I’m not saying any of these strategies above is better or worse than any other. I bring these heuristics because they helped them a lot and many were inconspicuous.
Each person can come up with a set of aspiration rules that help them at the direct level of life.
I must have “Fitness” rules that usually follow:
I know when I follow these rules, “NERD mode,” I have a pretty good chance to stay well, healthy and I feel good in myself.
I also have rules on interaction with the world and Be a good man:
This special rules may not work for you and that’s fine.
They are My rules.
Your rules must be reflected your The situation.
Here is another fun hack: We may not like all the rules, but we are prone respect other people’s rules:
Our cooperadniker offers you a donut, and you say “Ohhhhh, I shouldn’t”. They could come back with “Come on, live a little,” because they don’t want to be the only person eating a donut …
But if you say, “I have a rule not to eat a donut on weekday”, then you have a difficult rule to follow, and your site will probably respect this.
Some people can refrain from certain food or drinks for religious or personal reasons.
There is no reason that you can’t have rules for any damn reason you want!
What are your rules?
A good combination of aspiration, professional and societies – improvements in the rules is good to start. Or hell, just one of each!
Heck, even one one for each can be a good place to start.
These rules should be yours.
Here are some ideas to help you start:
Start writing some aspiring rules and see how it feels.
I think that it is more specific and transient / failure, the rules are more likely to be to follow them.
Rules that actually help you make a long-term correct decision in difficult situations. You know, those situations in which your lizard brain says “Eat sweets!” Or “Drink a drink” or “Stay late and DoomCroll 7 hours!”
The rules can also be a previously gap, so do not end in these situations in the first place.
We can use technology, application locking software, or recruit our friends to help us stay loyal to our rules.
Once you identify your rules, and actually write them, follow how you work with them.
If you find yourself to break your rules more often than no, maybe it might be time to adjust the rules, make some deep thinking or working with a therapist to start coming why and What’s going on.
Remember, failure can be a hell of a teacher, and leaning in fear is a great chance to learn lessons life trying to learn us.
