The German airport in Munich canceled more than a dozen flights after drones were seen near his airspace.
At least 17 flights were grounded in Munich, affecting nearly 3,000 passengers.
Munich Airport said it had diverted another 15 flights to nearby cities.
There was no immediate confirmation of where the drones came from. Several airports across Europe have closed in recent weeks due to unidentified drones.

Flights outside the Munich airport are “stopped”, The airport said.
The air traffic control was redirecting flights that were to land in Munich to Stuttgart, Nuremberg, Vienna and Frankfurt.
Since it was dark, no information was confirmed about the type, size or origin of drones, Federal Police spokesman Stefan Bayer told Bild newspaper. The drones were first seen at 9:30 pm local time (19:30 GMT), and then again an hour later, police said.
The BBC has contacted the Bavarian State Police and the Federal Police of Germany.

Copenhagen and Oslo airports were forced to close after unidentified drones were spotted near an airport and military air spaces.
Russia has denied any participation, while the Danish authorities claim that there was no evidence that Moscow had participated.
Speaking at a summit in the city of Sochi in the Black Sea resort on Thursday, Russian President Vladimir Putin laughed at the suggestions he ordered in Drones in Denmark.
“I won’t do it again. I won’t do it again – not to France, Denmark or Copenhagen,” Putin said.
Thousands of passengers were stuck at the Munich airport overnight.
“The bearing beds were placed and blankets, drinks and snacks were provided,” the airport said.
Currently, the city hosts the Oktoberfest Annual Festival, which is due to end on October 5th. The festival attracts more than six million people a year, according to the official website.
