New York Prosecutor James James is criminally charged with federal allegations by a large jury.

James, who has led an investigation into civil fraud against Trump in 2023, has been charged with charges of banking fraud in the Eastern district of Virginia in Alexandria, according to court documents.

Prosecutors accuse James of alleged banking fraud and give false reports to a financial institution on a mortgage loan for a house in Norfolk, Virginia, the documents say.

In a statement, James accused the president, who recently pressed prosecutors to raise criminal charges against her – for “desperate weapons of our justice system.”

“It forces federal law enforcement agencies to carry out their bidding, all because I did my job as a prosecutor in New York,” she said.

“These accusations are unfounded and the president’s own public statements clarify that his sole purpose is political retribution at all costs.”

The US prosecutor appointed to the case, meanwhile, Lindsay Haligan said the case proved that “no one is above the law.”

“The accusations, as claimed in this case, represent deliberate, criminal actions and huge violations of the trust of society,” she said.

“The facts and the law in this case are clear and we will continue to follow them to ensure that justice is being served.”

Trump appointed Haligan, his former personal lawyer, to monitor the case after another US prosecutor, Eric Sibert, resigned. Sibert is reported to have been removed after telling the Ministry of Justice that he had not found enough evidence to blame James.

James’ first appearance was scheduled for October 24 in Norfolk.

The Federal Government claims that James bought a three -bedroom home in Norfolk, using a mortgage loan that requires it to use the property as its secondary residence and does not allow shared property or “gaping” of the home.

The prosecution claims that the property “was not busy or used” by James as a secondary residence, and instead was “used as an investment property for rent”, which was employed by a family of three.

The Wrong Presentation allowed James to receive favorable loan conditions that would not be available for investment property, prosecutors say.

Halligan said that if he was sentenced, James could face up to 30 years in prison and up to $ 1 million ($ 751,755) a fine for each piece.

James Aba Lowell’s lawyer said, “We are deeply concerned that this case is guided by President Trump’s desire for revenge.”

Last month, Trump called on the Prosecutor General of the US Prosecutor Pam Bondi, who heads the Ministry of Justice, in a social media publication to pursue his political opponents, including James.

“We can’t slow down anymore, it kills our reputation and authenticity,” he writes.

James was one of Trump’s several opponents listed in this post. He also called Bondi to investigate the former FBI Director James Komi, who was accused criminally shortly after the post. He pleaded innocent on Wednesday after being charged with making a false statement before Congress.

The Ministry of Justice has been reported to have opened investigations by former Trump security adviser John Bolton and California Senator Adam Schiff.

In the civil fraud case filed by James, Trump was found responsible for falsifying records to provide better loan deals, leading to a $ 500 million fine ($ 375 million). The punishment was discharged by an appeal court, which called the fine excessive, though it confirmed that Trump is responsible for fraud.

During the case, Trump often attacks James outside the courtroom, accusing her of carrying out a “political hunting of witches” against him. James said the courts had ruled that Trump was “not above the law”.

On Thursday, James said he was behind his office against Trump and his organization.

New York Governor Katie Hochul, Democrat, said James’ accusation “is nothing smaller than the Ministry of Justice’s weapon to punish those who carry the powerful responsible.”

The New York Union of Civic Freedoms and the US Civil Freedom Union called it “the most in a long list of insolent abuse of power by President Trump.”
