Oktoberfest’s discovery slowed down in Munich after fatal fire and threat of bombs

Police in the German city of Munich claims that the opening of the place where Oktoberfest is held has been delayed due to possible connections with an explosion and fire in a house in the city where one person died.

Mayor Dieter Reiter said Teresienvis will remain closed until at least 5:00 pm (15:00 GMT) on Wednesday because of a bomb threat.

A large -scale emergency operation is currently underway in Lercenau in the northern part of Munich. Police said this was triggered by a fire at a single -family home. Residents also reported a hearing an explosion.

Police said potential links in other places were investigated, including the festival website. It is also possible to connect to the movement of the left antiph.

A message entitled “Antifa Means Attack” was published on the Indymedia website, claiming to be behind several incidents in northern Munich, including the burning of several luxury cars, according to the German news agency DPA.

Oktoberfest lasts from September 20 to October 5 and has already attracted more than 3.5 million visitors. It is described as the world’s largest festival of folklore and beer.

Police investigating the Lercenau fire said they believe the apartment building was deliberately lit as part of a family dispute.

“The wounded man who was found has since died. Another person is missing but is not thought to be any danger,” they added.

“The Bubbi traps were also found in the affected building. Special forces were called to discourage them.”

Numerous emergency staff are in place.
