One of Kraven the Hunter’s Weirdest Moments Was Added in Post

If you have seen Kraven the Hunter Or just online, you probably know about a weird moment that happens midway through a movie. After being informed that his goons have tried and failed to kidnap the titular hunter, Alessandro Nivola’s Alexei Systevich lets out a scream that sounds like some kind of death knell. You’d think this was to set up his transformation into Rhino later in the film, or even to get some kind of reaction from his top goon. But neither happens, so it exists as a weird moment in a movie that could have been more interesting in general

What happened here? According to Nivola in a recent interview The Hollywood ReporterHe initially let out a silent scream during the shoot as he made the decision at that moment. This seemed to backfire as it made the crew laugh, and director Jesse Chander later told him that it would be kept in the final cut of the film. But at some point during post-production, things changed and the strange sound he makes was done in post-production. He thinks it’s not as effective as quiet shouting, and considering how memetic it’s become in the past month, he may have a point.
