Oscar-winning actress Diane Keaton died at the age of 79, according to reports in the United States.
Keaton, who was born in Los Angeles, starred in the 1970s through her role as Kay Adams-Carleone in the godfather’s films.
She was also known for her participation in the father of The Bride, First Wives Club and Annie Hall, who won her the Academy Award for the best actress in 1978.
The actress, whose Hollywood career lasted more than 50 years, died in California, her family confirmed to People magazine. The source also confirmed its death to The New York Times.
Paying tribute, her first co-star of the Housewife Club Beth Midler wrote on Instagram: “The brilliant, beautiful, unusual Diane Keaton has died. I can’t tell you how unbearable it makes me.
“She was a cheerful, complete original, and completely without a fraud, or any of the competitiveness that one would expect from such a star. What you saw was who was … Oh, La, Lala!”
Actor Ben Stiller paid tribute to X by writing: “Diane Keaton. One of the biggest movie actors ever. An icon of style, humor and comedy. Brilliant. What a person.”
Keaton was also nominated for roles in something he has to give, Marvin’s room and the Reds.
She never married and had two adopted children – daughter, Dexter and son, Duke.
