Prince Harry’s lawyers are in eleventh-hour talks with Rupert Murdoch’s UK tabloid newspaper business to settle claims of illegal data collection against the publisher, London’s High Court has heard.

But on the day the trial opened, Anthony Hudson Casey, representing the publisher, told the High Court that the two sides were engaged in “settlement discussions”.

The youngest son of King Charles III is the only claimant left in a High Court case against former Labor deputy leader Lord Tom Watson, whose lawyers are negotiating a settlement, the court heard.
