Rescuers are looking for missing cities in five states

Rescue workers in Mexico are looking for at least 65 people who are missing after torrential rains have caused floods in 150 seats in five states.

At least 64 inhabitants have been confirmed dead, according to official data updated by the government on Monday.

Mexican President Claudia Shainbaum has promised help with the affected areas.

The heavy rains, caused by two tropical storms, triggered landslides and made the rivers overflow, sweeping entire homes as well as roads and cars.

49 -year -old Maria Salas lost five family members when their home collapsed in Huuchichchi, a city in the mountains in northern Puebla.

She told the Agance France Press that her own house had been swept away by a landslide: “I can’t get my belongings, I can’t sleep there. I have nothing.”

The city is one of the few that is available in the disaster area.

On Sunday, President Shainbaum visited a shelter in Huuchichchina and said the employees would check the damage the city had suffered.

“Everyone will receive help to restore their homes,” she told those whose houses were swept away or made uninhabited.

Approximately 100 small communities remain cut as the flood has damaged power supply and communication lines.
