Snapchat is going to charge for storage — here’s how to save your Memories for free

About a decade after the digital time capsule for the moments of your life, Snapchat is ready to pay a price in its memory feature. Organization Declaration Last week it is caping free memory storage in 5 GB.

If your memories go out of limits you need to export them or sign up to save them for Snapchat’s new memory storage plan.

The company told TechCrunch in an email that the launch storage plan provided 100 GB of storage for $ 1.99 per month. Snapchat+ users will get up to 250 GB storage as part of their $ 3.99 monthly subscription, while Snapchat Platinum users will get 5 TB as part of their $ 15.99 monthly subscription.

If you do not sign up for a plan, your oldest snaps will be saved, while the most recent storage will be deleted to stay at the storage limit.

Although the company has given users to 12 months of temporary storage for memories beyond 5GB limit, some users are actively choosing to export their memories instead of paying.

Export your Snapchat Memorial to your device’s camera roll

One of the ways to save your snapchat memory is to download them on your camera roll. Although it can be done directly from your phone, you are limited to 100 batches at once, it may be time -consuming work if you have thousands of reserved snaps.

However, it can be a good way to choose the snaps you actually want to save.

All you need to do is here:

  • Open the Snapchat app and select the “Memory” icon next to the camera button.
  • Tap the “Select” option in the upper right hand corner.
  • Select 100 memories you want to keep.
  • Tap the “Export” button displayed on the bottom right of your screen.
  • Select “Download” to save these on your camera roll.

Repeat this process to save one more batch of memories of 100.

Download your Snapchat Data

If you don’t want to spend time exporting your memories on 100 batchs of 100, you can use Snapchat’s “Download my data” tool to save your memory archive and it can email you in a .zip file.

All you need to do is here:

  • Open the Snapchat app and navigate to your profile.
  • Tap the settings icon in the top right of your screen.
  • Scroll to the bottom of the “My Data” option.
  • Select Memories, HTML files and JSN file options. (If you do not want to save your chat history, user data and more, check the options below just remember, it may be more difficult to find your memories in the .zip file)))
  • Tap “Next”.
  • If you need to choose a date range for export, select the “All Time” option.
  • Confirm your email address.
  • Tap on “Submit”.

The time it takes to receive your data may vary depending on how much you saved.
