BbcThe son of Israeli hostage, whose body remains in Gaza, told the BBC that he was dealing with the realization that “it is not over and it will be a longer battle.”
The Ritim Cooper, whose father Arimam is among the 24 hostages whose bodies were not returned to Israel on Monday, said families were trying to “find the power in some way to rise … and to continue the battle.”
He called on US President Donald Trump, Qatar, Egypt and other countries involved in peacetime negotiations “to show Hamas that this is not acceptable.”
A fire release agreement and hostages, signed by Israel and Hamas, said the other hostages in Gaza would be returned by noon on Monday, with nearly 2000 Palestinian prisoners and detainees held by Israel, released in return.
While the 20 hostages, who are still alive, have been released, a copy of the agreement published by the Israeli media, it seems that Hamas and other Palestinian fractions may not be able to find all the bodies of the deceased hostages until the deadline.
Their families have gripped their hopes for their beloved, who returned Monday, after two years in captivity.
“We were hoping and expected that maybe 15 to 20 of the 28 of the 28 deceased hostages would be released, but that didn’t happen. Only four were announced,” said G -Cooper.
Family distributionHe described the news as a “very big disappointment” for families.
“It is clear to us that they could have and have to play more and (that) they play games.”
Mr. Cooper’s parents were abducted in October 7, 2023. Attacks led by Hamas against Israel, from their home in Kibbutz Nir Oz. His mother was released later that month while his father was killed in captivity.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said it was operating in the area at the time, but did not confirm how it was killed, referring to the BBC this week to a previous statement that said the circumstances were “consideration”. Hamas claims he was killed by an Israeli military strike.

It says that the additional stages of the peace plan should not progress until all the other bodies are returned.
Cooper headed to the Re’IM military base in southern Israel on Monday to see the return of the 20 living hostages.
In the vocalists sent during the day, he described that feeling “a huge expectation” and “great relief” when they see them return. But he said the thought of the bodies returning to Israel was “heartbreaking”.
Family distributionTurning back the next day, after the news that the four bodies were back, they did not include that of Airaj, he described the experience as a “big roller coaster”.
Cooper said that his father’s return would allow him to “close” and “sleep better at night”.
“Everything is detained,” he said.
Ruby Chen, whose son of Itai remains in Gaza, said he had experienced a similar combination of emotions.
“We were pleased (on Monday) to see 20 hostages to go out and reunite with their families, but we were very disappointed not to see more hostages to go out,” he said in a video message shared with the BBC from the hostage and missing families.
“We ask the Israeli government, the United States and the intermediaries to continue the battle and put pressure on Hamas to stick (to) and to follow the agreement that was signed and to return all the other 24 hostages to capture,” added G -n CH.
The Israeli military said on Tuesday that after forensic tests, she identified the four hostages whose bodies were returned and informed their families that their relatives had been repeated.
It says Guy Illos – who was shot at the Nova Music Festival and is thought to have died of the wounds – and Bipin Joshi, who is thought to have been thought to have been “killed in the first months of the war.”
