Donald Trump has accused Australian journalist of “hurting Australia” after being asked about his business deals while in service.
John Lyons of the Australian Broadcast Corporation (ABC) asked Trump how much more than his return to the White House in January during the Trump state visit to the UK.
“I don’t know,” Trump replied, saying his children dealt with business. He added that he would tell Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese for Lyon, adding “you set a very bad tone.”
On Thursday, ABC said he was informed by the press of the United Kingdom Prime Minister that he was no longer present at a joint press conference with Trump and Sir Kyer Starmer.
In a statement, the ABC said he was still accredited to attending the prime minister’s stay, where Trump meets Sir Kir for conversations on Thursday, but that “there is no longer room for the joint press conference” for “logistics reasons.”
The statement added that there was no “indication” that this was related to Lyon’s questions.
The interaction on Wednesday between Lyon and Trump saw that the US leader holds his index finger to his lips before saying “quietly” and moved away to talk to another journalist when Lyon tried to ask another question.
Trump also told Lyon that he would meet Albanese “Soon”, adding, “I’ll tell him about you.”
For months, Albanese has been looking for a meeting with the President of the United States after the conversations between the couple were canceled at the last moment when Trump left the G20 summit in June earlier than he was expected to deal with the Middle East war.
Albanese – who will be in the United States for the UN General Assembly next week – earlier to ABC Radio that he and Trump will “see in New York”.
“He hosts a reception on Tuesday night next week. And we will also see each other in various forums that take place between now and end of the year.”

Lyons said, after Trump’s stealing response that this is an “absurd concept” that asking legitimate questions will politely harm relations between longtime allies.
“It was perfectly normal for me to ask questions that I don’t think they were provocative,” he told the ABC, adding that his inquiries were fair, based on research and not asking for violence.
ABC said his questions were part of an investigation from their four -angles program, looking at Trump’s business relations after returning to office.
