US President Donald Trump said he and Chinese prime minister Jinping have approved a deal for the future of Tiktok operations on Friday.

The president has announced that he will meet the XI at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Summit in South Korea, adding that he will travel to China next year.

Trump wrote to Truth Social, the call was “productive” and he “evaluates” XI approval for a deal that will see that Tiktok’s business is sold to a group of US investors.

Tiktok, which is run by Chinese company bytedance, has previously been said to have to sell its operations in the US or risk being closed.

However, Trump has delayed the implementation of the ban four times since it was first announced in January, and earlier this week has again extended the deadline to December.

In his publication, Trump wrote the two “ahead” on commercial matters and will meet at the APEC summit in South Korea, scheduled to begin in late October.

“I also agreed with my president that we would meet at the ATES summit in South Korea that I would go to China early next year,” Trump said, adding that the XI would travel to the United States at “the right time”.

The president did not provide more details about the Tiktok deal, which he said earlier this week that the call would confirm.

This deal is reported to see a group of American companies that is said to be Oracle – this would allow Tiktok to continue working in the United States using the algorithm technology licensed by Bytedance.

The official State News Agency Xinhua has announced that China’s position for Tiktok is “very clear” and that it welcomes companies to “conduct trade negotiations based on market rules and to reach solutions that comply with Chinese laws and provisions and balance of interest.”

“We hope the US will provide an open, fair and non -discrimination business environment for Chinese companies to invest in the United States,” she added.

Spotting himself with British Prime Minister Sir Kayer Starmer in the United Kingdom on Thursday, Trump said he believes that Ticktock has a “enormous value” for the United States.

“The people who invest it are among the largest investors in the world,” he said. “And they will do a great job – and we do it with China.”

However, many MPs in the United States – including some of Trump’s own party – have expressed concern about the deal, citing constant concerns about Bytedance’s relationships with the Chinese Communist Party or CCP.

“I am concerned that the reported licensing transaction may include a continuous reading of the new Tiktok of Bytedance algorithm, which could allow the continuation of the control or influence of CCP,” said a statement by Michigan John Moulon, chairman of the China Committee.

While Trump initially called on Tiktok to be banned during his first term, he changed the course and on Thursday said he was looking at the platform as a key part of his previous election campaign in 2024.

In January, the US Supreme Court upheld a law for the first time in early 2024, banning the application, unless Bytedance was released from its operations in the United States. The app went “dark” only briefly at this time before the ban would slow down.

Earlier, the US Department of Justice has expressed concern that Tiktok’s access to US users is a threat to national security of “Huge Depth and Scale”.

The call between SI and Trump is the second so far this year.

In June, the two leaders talked to discuss China’s exports of rare earthly minerals, resulting in China agreed to approve the “certain number of” export permits of US companies, as well as the magnets made by them.

In recent months, Chinese and US officials have held four rounds of talks and have so far abandoned the application of extremely high tariffs and strict export control.

The US has already imposed 20% tariffs on some Chinese goods that are said to be related to fentanyl traffic.

Other thorny problems – including restrictions on the export of technology and Chinese purchases of US agricultural products – have so far remain unresolved.
