Trump’s peace plan “ignores the interests of the Palestinian people,” Hamas staff told the BBC

Hamas’s senior figure told the BBC that the group would probably reject Donald Trump’s peace plan for Gaza, saying that he “serves the interests of Israel” and “ignored those of the Palestinian people.”

The figure said Hamas is unlikely to agree to disarming and handing over his weapons – a key condition for Trump’s plan.

It is also claimed that Hamas objects to the deployment of international stabilization force (ISF) in Gaza, which he views as a new form of occupation.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accepted Trump’s plan during the White House talks on Monday. Hamas has not yet given an official answer.

Qatar Foreign Ministry said Hamas was studying the White House’s proposal “Responsible”.

A senior Palestinian employee of knowledge of Hamas talks told the BBC that they include the group’s management both inside and outside the gas.

It is believed that the military commander of the Group on the territory of the al-din al-Hadad is determined to continue to fight instead of accepting the plan offered. Hamas’s figures outside Gaza recently found themselves in discussions as they have no direct control over the hostages.

Hamas conversations, which are expected to take several days, include other Palestinian factions.

The Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ), which participated in the attack on October 7 and had previously held some Israeli hostages, rejected the plan on Tuesday.

Hamas is thought to be the main point of bonding that the plan requires them to hand all the hostages in one move – they distribute their only market.

Even with the support of Donald Trump for the plan, there is no confidence that Israel will not resume his military operations after receiving the hostages – especially after trying to kill Hamas leadership in Doha earlier this month, in opposition to the United States.

In addition, a gas map shared by the Trump administration shows what it seems is a planned buffer zone along the southern border of Gaza with Egypt. It is not clear how this would be applied, but if Israel is involved, it is also likely a dispute.

In addition, after agreeing to the plan on Monday night, Netanyahu seems to be back to several of the conditions it outlines.

In a video shared on X, he insists that the Israeli military will be able to remain in parts of Gaza and that Israel said that “forcibly opposed” the Palestinian state.

This contradicts the terms of the Trump framework, which provides for the complete withdrawal of the Israeli forces and says that once the plan is completed, it may have a “reliable path to the Palestinian self -determination and statehood”.

Within the Gaza, the Palestinians largely supported the plan, but only because it would lead to the end of the war.

Resident Hadar Abu Quaik told the BBC: “The American plan has bad clauses, but I support him because he will stop the war and get rid of Hamas. Even if the devil himself will bring a plan to end this hell we live in, I would support it.”

Palestinian journalist Fati Sabah said, “Rejection of Hamas, God forbid, would mean giving Netanyahu the green light to continue the war with American and Western support, to destroy the remains of the gas and the central region.”

“Gaza people cannot bear this. They are devastated, exhausted, desperate and hopeless,” he said.

“They want to end the fire now, not tomorrow, at any price, even though they know that the plan serves the interests of Netanyahu, is full of pitfalls and does not reflect their aspirations,” he added.

The Israeli military launched a campaign in Gaza in response to an attack led by Hamas against southern Israel on October 7, 2023, which killed about 1,200 people and 251 others were hostage.

At least 66,097 people have been killed in Israeli attacks in Gaza since then, according to the health ministry in the territory.

In August, the body, supported, confirmed that the hunger was being held in Gaza. Earlier this month, the UN Investigative Committee has come to the conclusion that Israel has committed a genocide in Gaza – which Israel has severely rejected.
