Typhoon Ragasa made the land in southern China, where nearly two million people were evacuated in the preparation for his arrival.
This comes after the authorities said that at least 17 people had been killed and more disappeared in Taiwan after a lake was cracked on Tuesday, causing a strong flood to the east of the island.
Ragasa was lowered from Super to Heavy Typhoon on Wednesday But it remains highly destructive, with the best winds of 241 km/h (150mph), recorded in Thai County in southeastern Guangdong province in China.
The equivalent of category 5 hurricane, Ragasa is the strongest storm in the world this year and roars over the South China Sea for days.
Before they made the land, 90 people were injured in Hong Kong as the storm transferred its coastline, the hospital administration said.
The typhoon made the land on the shore of Hailing Island, the city of Yangan in Guangdong around 5:00 pm local time (9:00 GMT) on Wednesday, according to Chinese state media.
Cross the continent with resistant winds of 144 km/h and higher gusts. The wind speed is expected to gradually weaken as the storm is moving west above the land, but the rain will be prolonged and slowly moving throughout the region for a few more days.
The southern Chinese cities of Juhai, Shenzhen and Guangzhou – all located in Guangdong – were arranged for seawater penetration from about lunch local time.
In Juhai, police patrol the streets with sirens and megafons, telling people to stay home.
Red landslide signals were also issued in the mountainous regions of Guangdong province.

Far from the Chinese continental part, the Taiwan authorities are still involved in the destruction caused by Ragasa, which employees describe as “far more people than expected.”
Prime Minister Cho Jung-Tai has asked for an investigation on how evacuations are being carried out after at least 17 people died after a barrier lake formed by a landslide in July, bursting their coast in Hualien County, causing serious floods in the city of Guanfo. Others remain disappeared, the fire department reported.
“We need to investigate why the evacuation orders have not been fulfilled in the areas we have requested, which led to such a tragedy,” Cho told reporters. “This is not about the assignment of guilt, but about revealing the truth.”
Earlier on Wednesday, the village chief of the town of Lady in Taiwan, a home of about 1000 people, said the whole village was flooded and many people were still stuck as a result of the outbreak of Barrier Creek Matai’an Creek.
“It’s chaotic now,” said Wang Tse-in front of the Reuters Agency. “There are mud and rocks everywhere. Some floods have subsided, but some remains.”
Some geologists have described the violation as a “tsunami of the mountain”, with approximately 15.4 million tonnes of water-equivalent to the 6,000 Olympic pools with an Olympic size-have been released during the dam.
The flood washed several key bridges, submerged vehicles and left the ground floors of homes under water. Many residents were trapped on the upper floors in anticipation of rescue.
Although the floods have withdrawn in the city, they remain thick mud and debris and the search teams continue to go from door to door in the hope of finding the missing ones.
“I’m still in shock. I just can’t imagine how this could happen. It’s one of the busiest areas in Hualien and the streets are lined with shops. We’re going to these places all the time, but everything was destroyed yesterday,” said 42-year-old Ava, who runs a bookstore with her husband in Guang.
The couple spent the night at an evacuation center. Hualien is home to many indigenous tribes, and the couple belongs to the AMIS community.
The government has established a disaster response center in Hualien, and the Ministry of National Defense has deployed troops to assist in rescue efforts.

Although the typhoon did not make the land in Hong Kong, the hospital administration said 90 people were injured after transferring the coastline, unleashing powerful winds and heavy rain.
The Hong Kong Observatory has issued a level 10 warning for the storm on Wednesday – the highest it can betray – and urged people to stay inside.
The flights were grounded and schools and some businesses closed. The flights were expected to resume at midnight on Thursday, the airport said.
Earlier during the week, Ragasa was torn through the remote northern islands of the Philippines, leaving the cities flooded, thousands displaced and at least eight killed.
Winds of 260 km / h (162 miles / h) in its peak on Monday, Ragasa is thought to be the most powerful storm the world saw this year.
The Chinese Meteorological Administration described Ragasa as the “king of storms”.
It is expected to be more destructive than other typhoons who made the land in the Chinese province of Guangdong earlier this year.
