WIRED’s Global Editorial Director Katie Drummond kicks off our discussion this time, telling us how her father was recently contacted by a scam caller who tried to trick him with a voice that sounded like him. Fortunately no money was lost during that interaction, but it’s a stark reminder that AI-powered scams aren’t a future concern, but an issue worth considering now. We were also joined by Andrew Coutts, WIRED’s senior editor focusing on security and investigations. He reminded viewers to pay attention to social engineering methods scammers often use, such as creating a sense of urgency or encouraging you not to tell anyone about it.
