What to do when fitness feels like a job …

Spread the love

For most of my adult lives, I was a full fitness professional.

But I have a confession to make.

Fitness can be felt as a job.

Thus, even “professionals” do not always feel motivated. And nor my clients.

That is normal. No one feels motivated all the time.

Fitness is kinda like flossing. You don’t always love but you know it’s important.

So what do you do when everything just feels like another item on your ‘to-do’ list?

First, give yourself permission to feel this way.

You don’t have to be someone who “falls in love” with a fitness for it that matters. Even if you never look forward to, a A small consistent effort is still paid.

Secondly, when possible, that is It is worth trying to bring more joy in the process.

In the best order, fitness is not the ultimate goal. It’s an amplifier for everything else you love.

If fitness feels like a job for you right now, here are a few ways to mix things up:

1. Topic.

List your trainings after your favorite hobbies or interests. (If you love the stars wars, you don’t work, work Eat training.)

You can try out a exercise especially built around something you enjoy or even one who levels after boss battle.

And it’s not just going for training!

There are also tons of themed cooks inspiration and bring some fun to your meals.

My son (11) brought home for the Minecraft cook from school last week and decided to want to make a “Minecraft Steak”. It was literally just a steak with salt and pepper on it, but he was so excited and invested in getting meals Juuuuuuust.

You can even add some taste how are you Follow your progress.

Bottom line: Whatever you want, whether it’s gandalph, gardening or golf – please see if you can take a little bit in the mix.

2. Tie him back to life out of fitness.

For most of us, fitness doesn’t work to be “best in fitness.” (Although if competing in 5k or the power supply, that’s what you love, and that’s great!)

It is about energy and health to appear in things that illuminate you. For example, one of my clients, Julie, really hated strength training. She knew it was important for keeping muscle and bone health and everything else. But it was not until we could tie the specific movements in its exercises back into its passion, archery, that “performing” part of working hours easier to do.

I still remember lighting up after she returned from the archery session and said something along the lines: “Luke just felt so easy!” (Arhery People, don’t come to me if I found it. 😅)

Bottom Line: The highlighted connection between your fitness goals and all the other cool things you love to do is code cheater code.

3. Add games + challenges.

The movement should not always be serious.

Try adding a few more games and mini challenges to your session to water things!

Finish your heating with Stick Drop Challenge.

Add between exercises in some movement of low intensity such as juggling or walking on an equilibrium beam, etc. To give your brain challenge even as your body recovers.

Roll A D20 to determine how your conditioning will look like at the end of your session.

In the NERD Fitness camp, my Ninjana class was full of small games and challenges like these, and people designed and sweating. I remember one camp especially, Emily, I came to me and then gave me a big hug because this approach seemed to fit the fitness felt fun and available in a whole new way.

Bottom line: Where possible, tap the playful side of the movement.

4. Let it be simple.

Sometimes, in spite of all this, Fitness will continue to feel like grinding.

That’s fine.

Don’t save him in those seasons. Focus on the basics: a Several key movementseat some protein, moving a little every day.

The action is important more than perfection.

Some of these ideas will be clicked, some will not, and that is the point. There is no size here for all recipe.

My hope for you is that you can find ways to fit fitness extra in your life without downloading.

So let me ask you:

What would bring More joy In your fitness now?

Press Reply and let me know – I would like to hear that.
