Exclusively “Some may call John O’Liri a miracle, but the actor” soul of fire ” William H. Macy He said the word downplayed the unimaginable story of the young man’s survival.
When O’Liri was 9 years old, his whole body was burned in an accidental fire in the house that he started while he was in his garage, playing with matches and gasoline. He did not have to survive, but after months of exhausting recovery – and with the help of a family, compassionate medical staff and a famous friend – he not only lived, but continues to flourish.
The local celebrity who made friends with him was the late Jack Buck, the legendary St. Louis Cardinals A television operator who has called games for 47 years. Buck heard about O’Liri’s story one night to dinner and decided to visit him at a hospital that sparked a friendship that changed life.
Macy presents Buck in new movie For the history of O’Lear “Soul On Fire” by Affirm Films and director Sean McNamara. He was honest when he was asked if he believed that O’Liri’s survival was a miracle.

“No, I don’t need miracles,” Macy told Fox News Digital After a few moments of contemplation. “I solve a needle here. I find the world to be miraculous in itself. I don’t need a supernatural thing. I find the world miraculous, the way it works. And I find that people are sometimes miraculous. I mean … This child should not live. He was burned over 95% of his body.”
“When Jack Buck heard about this child at this dinner and went there and whispered in his ear, he was in an induced coma. And he whispered in his ear with his familiar voice that this child knew somewhere in his brain:” You will live. You will make him make him. I think I don’t think about a miracle as much as I need it with faith, “Macy said.
“There is a quote and I decided he was in an ecclesiastes and I can’t find it. But the definition of faith I really liked is that what comes, all the troubles that come to you already have what you need to maneuver.
Macy suggested that the word “miracle” is used to some extent “cheaply” these days because it downplayed the efforts of O’leary’s viewers. In one specific scene in Soul of Fire, one of the hospital workers is credited to save O’Liri’s life, maintaining his hospital room clean and preventing the risk of infections of O’Liri’s vulnerable skin.
“And … so I think what the movie says is really great if I can,” Macy said. “This child had the will to survive in this thing. I think it was a brilliant stroke they included, and it is a true story that the character of this thing is the man, the arranged, who kept the room clean, who kept her flawlessly. Because, as the movie says,” that’s what he will kill. “When you are burned over 90% of your body, you are just a terrible infection on the end of life that is waiting to happen.

O’Liri is now making motivational speeches across the country, hoping to raise and inspire with his incredible history. Macy called him one of the most unusual people he had ever met.
“Well, he certainly is, if not the most unusual person I have ever met, he is one of them,” Macy said. “What you get is what you get. He is real. He has come out of this experience with this lust for life and he loves life and loves his life. And he rejoices every day … Man always has fun and he lives with such gratitude. And he always finds the good of his day, and he is as generous with everyone I see.”
“I want to say that what summarized it for me was that we talked about publicity,” the actor continued. “” How will we sell this thing? “And John spoke very early and he said,” Wow, this movie is not for me.
Macy also recalled that he was dating Joe Buck, who followed his father in a sports look. Joe told Macy that while Jack Buck was often far away, he quietly helped countless people behind the scenes.
“He told me that the long and the short thing was that his father was not warm and blurred in the house,” Macy said. “He Was a bit of a distant father. And he knew that he was loved by his Father and he knew his Father Was Really Proud of Him. But He Worked a Lot. Hews Aut of the House a Lot, HE W There Was … I didne ask HIM IF He Hugged, IF He Got Hugged as a Kid, But I Sort of Filled in That Blank Myself – That He Wasn’s Aene Angstrad. “And he uses his bully for a bully,” Macy continued. “He used his resources to appear very quietly in many different places and anonymously to help people. The stories are a legion. And I find it infinitely compelling. And I had this in my mind when I put all his thing together, that it was easier to show Jack.”
Asked why the audience seems to flow to the films based on faith these days, Macy said it is because it is what people want before thinking how Hollywood culture has changed over the years.

“I think the films based on faith tell the stories they want to hear,” he said. “You know there is a whole change in Hollywood and I am very proud to be part of the Hollywood scene, to be an actor and to be in the show business. About 10 or 15 years ago, Hollywood woke up.
“Soul On Fire” is already in theaters.
