A woman was killed and a man was severely injured in an attack on an ax at Warsaw University on Wednesday, according to Polish police.
A 22-year-old Polish man was arrested in connection with the attack, which the university called “a huge tragedy.”
Both casualties worked at the university. In a statement, the university said the murdered woman was a staff member and the wounded man worked for security.
The motive is not yet known for the attack.
Police said the attacker entered college at college at 18:40 local time (16: 40GMT).
From there, he entered an audience at college, according to a spokesman for the district prosecutor.
There were little details of what happened then.
“We express our great sorrow and sympathy for family and loved ones,” says the university rector in a statement.
May 8 will be a day of mourning for college, the rector said.
Another Polish newsletter, Gazeta Wyborcza Daily, says the attacker was a third year of law.
After the attack, Reuters reporters saw the audience fenced while police vans were gathering around.
