A man who killed dozens when he drove his car into people exercising outside a stadium in southern China has been executed, state media said.

Fan Weiqiu, 62, killed at least 35 people and injured dozens more on November 11 after he crashed his car onto a practice track in Zhuhai, in what is believed to be the deadliest attack on Chinese soil in a decade.

The rampage was sparked by Fenn’s “dissatisfaction” with how his property was divided following his divorce, the court said.

His execution on Monday comes less than a month after a court sentenced him to death.

Fan was found guilty of “endangering public safety”, with the court describing his motive as “extremely vile” and the “methods used” as “particularly cruel”.

The attack was one of 19 targeting strangers in China in 2024, including two within a week of the Zhuhai attack.
