At least 13 people were reported to have been killed in air strikes through a gas overnight after Israel said it was resumed combat operations in the Palestinian territory.
Two civilians were killed and five other wounded when an Israeli drone hit a tent near the Al Mavasi Humanitarian Zone, the Wafa News Palestinian Agency reports, citing medical red crescents.
The Israeli army said it was focused on what she called a military place in Hamas, where the group was preparing to shoot in Israel. Hamas -controlled vessels were also hit, the army said.
This comes after Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said the fight would resume “with full force”, adding, “This is only the beginning.”
The bombing is not of the same scale as on Tuesday, when the Hamas health ministry says more than 400 people were killed-but it does not show a leak in Israel’s fresh attack.
The strikes on Tuesday were the most serious, as a deal with a fragile fire and exchange of hostages came on January 19 and came in after Israel and Hamas failed to agree how to get him out of the original phase.
The deal includes three stages, and the second stage negotiations were due to start six weeks ago – but that didn’t happen.
According to the proposed second phase, Israel will withdraw troops from Gaza – but Israel and the United States have instead insisted on an extension of the first phase, with more hostages being released in exchange for more Palestinian prisoners.
Netanyahu threw the resumption of the fight as a return to Israel’s main goals – to return the hostages and “get rid” by Hamas – but the hostage’s families criticize the decision, saying that this shows that the government had abandoned their loved ones.
Israel says Hamas still holds 59 hostages, 24 of which are thought to be alive.
Egypt, an intermediary in the negotiations, said the fresh strikes were a “screaming” violation of the cessation of fire.
Wafa says that a woman and a child were killed in an air strike north of Han Eunice overnight on Wednesday, while four others were killed at a strike in Gaza.
The Gaza Health Ministry has not yet given death for the most strikes.
Hamas confirmed that several of his leaders were killed at strikes on Tuesday, including his actual government leader, Esam A-Daues.
Meanwhile, Islamic jihad, whose fighters participated in the attack on October 7, 2023, which triggered the present conflict – said the prominent spokesman for his armed wing, known as Abu Hamza, was killed.
However, there were also many civilians, including dozens of children who are thought to be among the dead.
It is said that regional mediators are urging Hamas to release some of the Israeli hostages who still have a de -escalation.
But Netanyahu said that ahead, all negotiations to end the fire would be held “under the fire”.
The attack on October 7, 2023 from Hamas on Israel saw about 1,200 people killed and the capture of 251 hostages – 25 of whom were released alive during the first phase of the cessation of fire.
Israel has reacted with a large -scale military offensive, which killed over 48,500 Palestinians, says Hamas -ruled health ministry and causes large -scale destruction of homes and infrastructure.
