A secret scheme to move Afghanistan created after major data breaches

The UK government has created a secret scheme for moving Afghanistan after the personal data of thousands of people inadvertently leaked, can be revealed.

A set of data containing the details of nearly 19,000 people who applied for relocation to the United Kingdom after the absorption of the Taliban in the country was published in mistake by a British Defense official in February 2022.

The Ministry of Defense (MoD) learned of the violation in August 2023, when some details were anonymously published on Facebook.

Nearly 9,000 Afghans have arrived in the UK or are on the way through the secret scheme, which is estimated to cost £ 850 million.
