Ukraine says his forces have successfully hit an oil refinery in the Russian city of Kestovo, about 800 kilometers (500 miles) from the front lines in eastern Ukraine.

Four drones hit the Lukoil Company depot, the Ukrainian media said, adding that the facility had suffered significant damage.

Videos published on social media showed large flames growing over an industrial facility.

Regional governor Gawb Nikitin said drones had fallen above the industrial zone and no casualties were reported.

Separately, the governor of the Smolensk region, Vasily Anokhin, told Telegram that a “massive” drone attack against “civil infrastructure” had occurred in his region, although no casualties were immediately reported.

Anokhin said one of the drones was removed when he tried to hit a nuclear energy facility. The BBC failed to check this information independently.

The mother and her young child were killed in the border region of Belgorod, which has been subjected to a frequent attack from Ukraine since the beginning of Russia’s full -scale invasion in February 2022.

Vyacheslav Gladov, the governor of the Belgorod region, said another child and his father were also injured at the strike.

The blow to Kestovo, Smolensk and Belgorod was part of a larger one -night attack, in which Russia said it had removed more than 100 Ukrainian drones and leading airports in St. Petersburg and Kazan to stop operations overnight.

It is one of the largest Ukrainian operations of its kind during the war and the second large -scale attack of Drona this week. On Friday, Ukraine struck another Russian oil refinery and aimed at Moscow during an attack involving a wave of at least 121 drones.

As the Ukrainian drones flooded the sky of Russia, Moscow began an attack overnight, triggering air signals in various Ukrainian regions.

The Ukrainian army said it had downloaded 29 Russian drones in nine regions.

As the third anniversary of Russia in Ukraine approaches, the conflict is grinded.

Russia is making a regular little progress in the eastern part of Ukraine, approaching more and closer to the strategically important city of Pokrovsk, which plays a decisive role as a logistics center used by the Ukrainian forces in the region.

Meanwhile, the Ukrainian forces continue to be held several hundred square kilometers in the Western Kursk area in Russia, where a lightning offensive began in August.
