A planned visit by US trade representatives to New Delhi later this month has been canceled, according to the Indian television operator NDTV.
The visit, which was expected to take place between August 25 and 29, is likely to be deferred, NDTV reported, citing people familiar with the question.
The report comes at a time when trade relations between the two countries have intensified with US President Donald Trump, imposing a 25% tariff on Indian export blanket, and heading those with an additional 25% of duties – is expected to enter into force on August 27 – as a “punishment” for India, buying a Russian raw.
Both sides are in contact with each other, but a new call schedule has not been finalized, the report said.
