The Palestinian journalist was killed and nine other injured when an air strike hit a tent used by local media in Khan Eunice, South Gaza, said Hamas ‘government media office and Palestinian journalists’ union (PJS).

Reuters news agency said the footage shows that people who are trying to get into the tent, which is said to be inside the Nasar hospital union.

The dead journalist was identified by PJS as Helmi Al-Fakaui of Palestine today television.

In a joint statement, Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and Shin Beth Intelligence Agency said they had hit a “Hamas terrorist … who operates under the guise of a journalist and owns a press company.”

They said that the man Hasan Eslah was involved in the attack on October 7, 2023 against Israel, which caused the war.

Nasser, who is the largest hospital that is still functioning in Gaza, has been hit repeatedly by IDF since the beginning of the war.

Israel has repeatedly accused Hamas of using hospitals as concealed bases and storage of weapons that the group denies.

Earlier, IDF said it had struck a shot that fired the missiles in Israel after ordering residents in several areas of Deir al-Bala in Central Gaza to evacuate.

By issuing the order, Arabic Lt Col Avichay Adraee spokesman warned that Israel would “start a heavy blow to any area from which the missiles are fired.”

Several rockets landed in the southern Israeli city of Ashkelon, causing damage

Shots from the Israeli city of Ashkelon showed flashes in the sky, when the sirens cried and an explosion at the bottom of a block of apartments during the rocket attack on Sunday night.

The speed and scale of Hamas’ missile attacks dropped sharply after the first few months of the war, as Israel intensively turned to its arsenals and launchers. But the group still shoots in Israel periodically, as a sign that it still has opportunities.

The Israeli air strikes continued overnight after the attack on the rocket, with the official Palestinian Agency WAFA reporting that sites in northern, central and southern gas were affected.

Efforts to try to restore the cessation of fire continue, with French president Emmanuel Macron holds talks in Cairo on Monday with Egyptian President Abdul Fatah al -Sisi and King Abdullah of Jordan.

Benjamin Netanyahu said the Gaza War and Israel’s efforts to ensure the release of 59 hostages still held by Hamas will be on the agenda during his conversations with Donald Trump in the White House on Monday.

Israel resumed its military campaign in Gaza last month, accusing Hamas of rejecting the US proposal to extend the ceasefire, which began in January. Hamas, for his part, accused Israel of abandoning the original deal that both sides agreed with.

The war was triggered by Hamas’s unprecedented attack on Israel on October 7, 2023, in which about 1,200 people were killed and 251 others were taken back to Gaza as hostages.

More than 50,750 Palestinians have been killed in the Israeli offensive since then, according to the Hamas Health Ministry.
