Amazon Executive Director Andy Jasse said that the rapid deployment of generative artificial intelligence means that the company will one day require less employees to do some of the work that computers can handle.
“As with any technical transformation, there will be fewer people who do some of the jobs that technology is actually starting to automate,” Jassy told CNBC Jim Cramer in an interview on Monday. “But there will be other jobs.”
Even AI eliminates the need for some roles, Amazon will continue to hire more employees in AI, Robotics and elsewhere, Jasse said.
Earlier this monthJassy has admitted that the company’s workforce will decrease in the next few years, as Amazon covers generative AI and AI-feeding software agents. He told employees in a note that it would be “difficult to understand exactly where it spread over time”, but that corporate workforce would shrink as Amazon wipes out more technology efficiency.
This is a message that makes its way through the technology sector. Salesforce Executive Director Mark Benioff Last week is claimed AI makes 30% to 50% of the work in its software provider. Other companies such as Shopify and Microsoft Employees called to accept the technology in their daily work. KLRNA Executive Director said in May that the online lender managed to shrink its number by about 40%, partly due to investment in AI and natural numbness in its workforce.
Jassie said on Monday that AI will vacate Rote Work employees and “make all his jobs more interesting” while allowing employees to come up with better services more than before.
Amazon and other technology companies also shrink their workforce through moving cuts over the last few years. Amazon has shortened more than 27,000 jobs since the beginning of 2022 and in recent months has announced less, more targeted cuts in their retail units and devices.
So far, Amazon’s shares are flat, lower than NASDAQ, which has won 5.5%. The action is about 10% below its record reached in February while my colleague Megacaps MetaMicrosoft and Nvidia All are traded in or very close Write down the topsS
