Amazon debuts a warehouse robot with a sense of ‘touch’

Amazon Say It has created a new warehouse robot, vulcan that can “feel” some of the items that touch it.

Bi-arms vulcan, which can drive the products inside the storage buggies in Amazon warehouse, uses Force Sensors to help know when communicating with an object. A arm re -sort the items in a bogie, while the second arm – which is equipped with a camera and suction cup – hold the items.

Amazon says that Volcan was trained in about 75% of the stocks of Amazon stocks with forces and physical information with touch response and it was capable of self-development over time. The robot has been deployed in Hamburg, Washington and Germany, where it has processed half a million orders to this day.

Volcan is the latest addition to Amazon’s warehouse robot. It uses a few thousand to fill the customer order throughout its global storage facilities.
