At least 32 people killed in a Russian rocket attack in a Ukrainian city

At least 32 people were killed and 84 injured, including ten children, after a Russian attack on the center of sums, according to Ukrainian authorities.

Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski said that “the terrible blow to Russian ballistic missiles” struck “an ordinary city street, ordinary life,” adding that without strong pressure “Russia will continue to extract this war.”

Two Iskander-Variant ballistic missiles hit around 10:15 local time (08:15 BST), both hitting the area around the State University in sums and its Congress Center.

Photos and videos of the consequences show bloody bodies scattered on the streets around the impact of rockets. At least two children were killed.

Ukrainian authorities told the BBC that 20 buildings were damaged, including four educational institutions, 10 cars and trams – as well as cafes, shops and five residential buildings.

Zelenski called for a “difficult” reaction from the world, adding that “conversations have never stopped ballistic missiles and air bombs.”

“The United States, Europe, all in the world who wants to end this war and murder. Russia wants this kind of terror and derives this war. Without pressure on the aggressor, peace is impossible,” Zelenski said.

“It is very important that everyone in the world does not remain silent, not to remain indifferent,” he added.

The university congress center is often used for children’s hours, according to Ukrainian BBC, with locals telling them that the space is an “educational center for the whole city” and “very actively rented for various courses, clubs and master classes”.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriai Sibiha has also condemned the attack on Tsvetnitsa.

“Many civilians have been killed and injured. The launch of such an attack against a great Christian holiday is absolutely evil,” he wrote at X.

He added that they were sharing “detailed information about this war crime with all our partners and international institutions,” saying that for the second consecutive month, Russia refused to accept the US proposal for a complete termination of fire, which Ukraine has unconditionally accepted on March 11.

“Instead, Russia is strengthening its terror,” Sibiha said.

The best diplomat of the European Union, Kaja Kalas, also reacted, saying that the X, that residents gathering for Tsvetnitsa, “only to be greeted by Russian rockets” is “a terrifying example of intensifying attacks until Ukraine has accepted the end of the fire.”

French President Emmanuel Macron said that the strikes of the sums emphasized the urgent need to impose a ceasefire on Russia.

The attack comes after the US envoy Steve Vikof met with Russian President Vladimir Putin in St. Petersburg on Friday.

The Kremlin said the meeting lasted more than four hours and focused on “aspects of a Ukrainian settlement”. The meeting, the third of Vitcof with Putin this year, was described by Russian special envoy Kiril Dmitriev as “productive”.
