BBC News and three leading news agencies have expressed desperate concern for Gaza journalists, who are said to be increasingly unable to feed themselves and their families.
Those who report the Gaza conflict are now hungry and “the same difficult circumstances as those who cover,” says a joint statement by BBC News, says
“For many months, these independent journalists have been the world’s eyes and ears on the ground in Gaza,” it said.
International newsletters rely on local Gaza reporters, as Israel does not allow foreign media, including BBC News, to send journalists to the territory.
Comes as More than 100 international assistance organizations and human rights groups have warned of mass starvation in Gaza.
The full statement reads: “We are desperately concerned about our Gaza journalists who can no longer feed themselves and their families.
“For many months, these independent journalists have been the world’s eyes and ears on Earth in Gaza. Now they are facing the same difficult circumstances as those who cover.
“Journalists withstand many deprivation and difficulties in Warzones. We are deeply disturbed that the threat of hunger is now one of them.
“Once again, we urge Israeli authorities to allow journalists in and outside Gaza. It is essential that adequate food supplies reach people there.”
In a separate joint statement, Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF), Saving The Children and Oxfam said their colleagues and the people they serve “lose”.
But Israel, who controls the entry of supplies to Gaza, has accused charity organizations of Hamas Propaganda Service.
As of Sunday, 45 Palestinians have been killed as a result of malnutrition, according to the Health Ministry of Gaza.
Israel prevented supplies to aid in Gaza in early March after a two -month termination of fire.
The blockade was partly lifted after nearly two months, but the lack of food and medication deteriorated.
Israel, along with the United States, helped create a controversial new help system managed by Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF).
Hundreds of murders have been recorded near GHF help places since they started working eight weeks ago.
The World Health Organization said a quarter of Gaza’s population faces hunger -like conditions, according to its estimates.
On Wednesday, his director Tedros Adhanom Gebrees said: “I do not know how you would call it except mass fasting and was created by man.
“And that’s very clear, it’s because of the blockade.”
