The bodies of five skiers were discovered by rescuers near the luxury Zermatt resort in Switzerland.
They were restored after the emergency services were signaled by a group of climbers climbing on Rimpfischhorn – 4.199 -meter peak in Valais Alps – up to several pairs of skiing left unattended near the top.
Air and ground searches have led to the opening of the bodies under the Glacier Summit meeting, Valaya’s local police said in a statement on Sunday.
The victims were found at a different altitude of avalanche debris in areas of high altitude near the Swiss-Italian border.
Three bodies were located in one area, and two more were found higher in a narrow patch of snow, said the rescue service Air Zermatt.
Later, during the search, a fifth pair of skiing was found, confirming that the group traveled as a party to five. Their identities have not yet been officially released.
The prosecutor’s office of the prosecutor’s office has opened an investigation into the circumstances of the accident.
In a separate incident on Friday night, Air Zermatt was also involved in a challenging mountain rescue of FieScherhörner, where four climbers were stuck against the background of fog and strong winds.
The initial attempt at evacuation had to be aborted because of the weather, but a second attempt shortly after midnight all four safe.
