The United Kingdom, France and Germany have told the UN that they are ready to restore sanctions against Iran because of their nuclear program if it fails to resume conversations By the end of August.
The three countries, known as the E3, said they were ready to activate a “click” mechanism – which means that previous sanctions would be restored – unless Iran resumed negotiations.
The E3 said they had suggested that they extend a negotiating time by the end of August, which Iran had not answered.
Iranian MP Manushire Motaki said Iran’s parliament is ready to withdraw from a nuclear transaction that limits its nuclear program if new sanctions have been introduced, the Iranian DEFA press agency said.
The E3 letter came after initial conversations between their delegations and Iranian diplomats were held in Istanbul, Turkey last month.
In the letter to the UN and his chief Antonio Guterres, three external officials – Jean -Noel Baro from France, David Lamy of the United Kingdom and Johan Vadeful of Germany – said they would impose heavy sanctions on Iran unless he agreed to limit his nuclear program.
The E3 said their proposal to extend the negotiations “remained unanswered by Iran”.
“We have made it clear that if Iran does not want to reach a diplomatic decision before the end of August 2025 or does not take advantage of the possibility of expansion, the E3 is ready to activate the click mechanism,” the letter said.
They added that they were committed to using “all diplomatic instruments” to ensure that Iran did not develop nuclear weapons – something that Iran denied would intend to do.
Last month, Iran said it was prepared for more conversations, but only after sanctions were canceled and its right to a civil nuclear program was canceled.
In 2015, sanctions on Iran’s nuclear program were canceled in 2015 after Iran signed a nuclear deal with E3, USA, Russia and China, agreeing with the limitations of its nuclear operations and allowing international inspectors to enter its nuclear sites. The deal is due in October.
The United States withdrew from the 2018 deal during President Donald Trump’s first term, with the leader saying he did too little to prevent Iran from creating a way to a nuclear bomb.
With its withdrawal, all US sanctions were re -imposed in Iran.
Iran revenge, increasingly violating restrictions. In May, the UN nuclear guard, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAE), said it has over 400 kg of uranium, enriched to 60% cleanliness – well above the level used for civil purposes and near the assessment of weapons.
In June, Iran’s parliament stopped collaboration with IAAE after tensions with Israel and the United States reached the head.
Israel launched attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities that month, causing a 12-day war.
The United States has bombed a number of Iran’s nuclear sites, negotiating with the US and Iran to a sharp end.
Following the strikes, the E3 countries have intensified Iran’s warnings about stopping it with cooperation with IAEA.
