A Russian drone attack struck the radiation shelter over the damaged reactor in the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, said Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski.

The shot overnight struck the shelter of the destroyed former fourth power ward in the plant, causing a fire that has been extinguished since then, he added.

As of Friday morning, radiation levels have not increased in the plant, Zelenski said.

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) said the staff and vehicles of fire safety responded within minutes of explosion overnight. No casualties have been reported, the agency added.
