Farhan Hassan just finished the exam and left the classroom to talk to friends when a Bangladeshi Air Force training aircraft crashed into his school campus – killing at least 27 people.

“The burning plane was hitting the building right in front of my eyes,” the college student told BBC Bangla.

Shots from the northern suburb of the capital, Dhaka shows a huge fire and thick smoke after the plane crashed into a two -storey building.

More than 170 people were injured in the crash.

The armed forces said the F-7 aircraft had experienced mechanical damage after taking off for a training exercise shortly after 13:00 local time (07:00 GMT). The pilot, a Lieutenant of the Taukir flight flyer, was among the killed.

Farhan, who was talking to the BBC Bangla with his uncle and father, added: “My best friend, the one I was with in the exam room, died right in front of my eyes.

Teacher at College Real Islam told the BBC that he had seen the plane “directly” hit the building.

Another teacher, Masud Tarik, told Reuters that he had heard an explosion: “When I looked back, I saw only fire and smoke … There were many guardians and children here.”

Hours after the crash, in a residential area that is quite densely populated, huge crowds gathered with people standing at the top of the buildings to see a view.

As people ran in all directions, ambulances and volunteers worked to find their way to carry the wounded and many bodies from the most important school and college.

At least 30 ambulances were spotted moving people.

A woman who was looking for information at the scene of the accident told the BBC that her son had summoned her immediately after the crash, but has not been heard from him since.

More than 50 people, including children and adults, were taken to a hospital with Burns, a doctor at the National Institute for Burning and Plastic Surgery.

Many families and relatives of victims were inside the hospital – including chess alam, the uncle of a boy of 8 years, Tanvir Ahmed, who died in the crash.

“My beloved nephew is in the morgue right now,” said G -n -Alam, holding his younger brother – Tanvir’s father – who failed to speak.

Most of the victims at the Burns Hospital are minors – most of them are between the ages of 9 and 14.

Many other public members came to the hospital to donate blood; While a number of politicians from the two prominent political parties Banglades of the Nationalist Party (BNP) and Jamaat-e-Islami visited.
