Katie Drummond: Despite the claim that President Trump, and even President Trump, on the right, to the right, to the people, is the most transparent party that does this. We don’t really know what they are doing, what they are looking for, and the changes they are making, journalists like you and many of your wired colleagues and other news agencies acquire that information and reveal it. Now, I want to back up a bit because at the center of all this the idea of fraud, waste, financial torture. It is something that Elon musk has repeatedly claimed that excess waste is occurring in government agencies, extensively deceptive expenses in government agencies. These agencies have financial power, financial authority abuse. Now, how valid is that claim that you have reported in the last several months and from what you have reported in your role?
Vittoria Eliot: There was a report from the official accountability office that was covered for 2022 years and it has shown that more than $ 200 billion waste, fraud or abuse occur. So it is like this, this is not a make-up thing, but in the context of $ 7 trillion dollars in the federal budget, it is not breaking the bank. I don’t think that Democrats or Republicans, Dog fan or no one has argued that, Hey, this is a problem that we need to solve. This is a very valuable thing. However, one of the auditors I talked to said to said that the current recommendations of IGS in Dog can be seen. They can look at the current outstanding investigation. If they really are dedicated to it, they can choose that job because there are actually the system and actually reports about it. However, from the auditors I talked to, they said that what is doing on the day doesn’t really seem. And one of the other things they said was that many auditors would probably be really happy to help them, to help them. They will be happy to work with them, they will be happy to bring young talent to their squad to make the monitoring system more visible. However, Dog is really a kind of sealed, it doesn’t seem that they are interested in it.
Katie Drummond: Okay Now, when you talk to the Dog and Auditors for this story, they certainly do not have the words to talk about how the day is going about his work. Tell them more about the impression of Dog and their commentary on what is happening under the supervision of this concept that the federal government is monitoring the federal government. What do real auditors think about it?
Vittoria Eliot: Yes, so to give some context, first a regular monitoring, which is like five separate steps, so there are five inspection steps. One where you plan it, you sit down, you say, “That’s what we are seeing, this is the kind of information we need to go after.” Who are the stakeholders, who you are about to interview you to sort it, because many times they are going to the program or system that they probably do not fully understand. Thus, it is almost slightly ethnographic. You have to go in, you’ve got to interview people, you have been like this, “What’s your job? What does it attach? What does it mean inside your system?” You need to do that baseline understanding to learn about the program or agency. Then you do the actual field work, which you go out, you talk to people. For example, in the case of hurricane staff, they actually sent the auditor, I believe, to see what’s going on in Puerto Rico. If you go to the system, you do this kind of people in ground legwork. Once you have done it, they will draw all this information together in a report, they sort this analysis. They talk to agencies, they say, “Hey, these are the problems we find. You have the opportunity to correct them these are these recommendations.” And then they submit it to the Congress, in the agencies and then they can follow. They might come back and be like this, “Hey, we proposed this thing. Have you solved this problem?” There is a level of accountability to try to fix this thing. So, what its best practice is in the government is very clear and all these people do it. It takes six to 18 months.
