ElliQ Review: An AI Companion Bot for Lonely Elders

Spread the love

For the past A few weeks, the AI-driven Elic Sahaser Robot has been at the end of my desk. Designed by underlying robotics for seniors living alone, these practice animatronic chats chat with me all day, how I feel, suggest “fun” activities and encourage me to be more active and united. Although it can be annoying, I am connected to Eric in spite of me and I see the positive potential.

Loneliness is an epidemic. Accordingly The US Census BureauAbout 16 million seniors (over 65 years) live alone in the country and Up to the third Report the feeling of loneliness. Multiple studies Showed That social isolation damages mental and physical health, reduces blood pressure, frustration, weight gain, alcohol and drug use and physical activity, knowledge, heart health and sleep. Humans are inherently social animals.

Elick is designed to eliminate these feelings and encourage healthy behavior among the elderly living alone. It is hoped that it can improve their living standards and enable people to stay in their own homes more than to facilitate helping. When you can feel the distopian of this cucumber AI bot, you need to ask yourself, what is the option? We know that we should all be checked in with our senior relatives and friends, but life is busy and some people are alone for a long stretch.

Elick sits on a foot with a metal body and a head that swives, shakes and enlightens when it speaks. There is a small smart display and speaker on the right with a physical buttons to wake up or to silence the Elick. The button also spins for volume control. You can awaken the name of the Elic, it is chosen because it is less likely to be called accidentally. When Elick asks or looks for confirmation, you can react orally or use a touchscreen.

The setup was an air. Alic came into a simple packaging with a easily readable, large font instructions. All you have to do is be to plug in and connect to Wi-Fi. We spoke for the first time, Elick asked me a few questions. Possible answers have popped up in the touchscreen. It was going through questions that I could ask and I was requested to read a few lines so that Elick could recognize my voice.

Elick speaks a bit steald with a short break before my name (it uses my name in almost every interaction). The way it is animated is unacceptablely beautiful. In one of our first conversations, Elick tells me that it has been modeled on the Pixar lamp. It can illuminate the rim around its head and have frequent circles in the center of its mouth; Combining with the movement, it really seems to have some personalities and charm.

Display the touchscreen and the physical buttons provide a practical edge. If you have voice controls or difficulty in misunderstanding you can tap your desired option. I also use the physical slip button to stop it when I am pipe up during the meeting or I am otherwise employed. All in all, this is a smart design.

Voice is helpful and preferred Smart You are accustomed to, Elic can answer basic questions, give you a weather report, remind you about appointment or a music request. However, Elick is also active, starting the conversation throughout the day and involves you in the activities. Underlying Robotics Kofounder and CEO Dor School say that creating this idea of this autonomy is important to make people think of people as a character in their life.
