Elon Musk Tesla’s electric car warned this, and other US exporters can be inflicted injured by countries that revenge Donald Trump’s trade tariffs.
Musk is a close ally of the US president and is making efforts to reduce the size of the federal government.
But in an unsigned letter addressed to the US Sales Representative, Tesla said that while he “supported” honest trade, he worried that US exporters were “exposed to disproportionate effects” if other countries had avenged tariffs.
The letter was dated the same day Trump was hosting an event in the White House Where he promised to buy Tesla in a support show for Musk.
It is not clear who in Tesla wrote the letter as it was unsigned, or Musk was aware of him.
The price of Tesla shares has dropped by 40% since the beginning of the year. Musk is the CEO of the car manufacturer, and although some claim that bringing it in accordance with the Trump administration is injuring its brand, market analysts say the fall of shares is more about worrying due to the purposes of Tesla production and a decline in sales in the last year.
In the letter, Tesla said she made changes to his supply chains to find so many local suppliers for his cars and batteries, so that less relied on foreign markets.
“However, she warned,” even with aggressive localization of the supply chain, certain parts and components are difficult or impossible for a source in the United States. “
The US President imposed an additional 20% tariff for the entire import of China, which caused Beijing to respond with retaliatory levies, including cars. China is Tesla’s second largest market after the United States.
“For example, past commercial actions of the United States have led to immediate reactions from the target countries, including increased EV rates imported into these countries,” the letter said.
The EU and Canada have threatened to cover revenge on the rates for the import of steel and aluminum in the United States, which came into force earlier this week.
The demonstrators have directed Tesla showrooms in recent weeks in protest of the role of reducing Mr Musk’s cost in the Trump administration, where he is the head of the Government Efficiency (Doge).
Earlier this week, Trump was hosting an event in the White House Where he said that the people protesting against Tesla should be marked with home terrorists while sitting in the driver’s seat of a brand new red Tesla, which he said he plans to buy.
Trump said the protesters “hurt a large American company” and anyone who uses violence against the electric carmaker will “pass through hell.”
