Australian woman who cooks toxic mushrooms told her trial of murder that he has long been a mushroom lover, but more recently developed a taste for the varieties of wild fungi that have “more aroma”.
Erin Patterson admitted that he was not guilty of the murder of three relatives, but attempted to kill another after he was served mushrooms from death to death at her home in Victoria in July 2023.
Prosecutors say she deliberately put the poisonous mushrooms in eating, but her defense team says it was a “terrible incident”.
D -Ja Patterson – during her second day at the Witness Stand, he told the jurors that she had begun to eat wild mushrooms during Kovid’s pandemic years before fatal eating.
Mrs. Patterson, Don and Gail Patterson, and 70, and Gail Heather Wilkinson’s sister, 66, were hospitalized after eating Beef Wellington at lunch and died a few days later.
Ian Wilkinson, the uncle of alienated husband of G -Jza Patterson, also got serious, but survived after weeks of treatment.
After saying to the court that she had accepted that the mushrooms from the death hat were in the beef Wellington she served, Da Patterson described the mushroom fodder – botanical gardens, a railway near her house and in her own property.
“I basically chose field mushrooms,” she told the court, explaining that she sometimes accumulated with her two children.
She told the first time she tried wild mushrooms, cutting a small part before she cooked it in butter.
“(That) it tastes good and I didn’t get sick,” she told the jury.
The court also heard that she bought a food dehydrator in April 2023, partly because wild mushrooms had such a “small season” and she wanted to keep them for later use.
Asked where the mushrooms came from for lunch in the center of the case, Da Patterson said that the “vast majority” were purchased from a supermarket in Lengta, while some were bought a few months earlier from an Asian grocery store in Melbourne.
She couldn’t remember the “specific purchase”, but she had previously bought different mushrooms – Shitake, Porcini, Enoki – from similar stores, she said. Another time she has purchased a “mixture of wild mushrooms” or “forest mushrooms” that have not indicated the exact content.
Earlier, Mrs. Patterson went through changes to her dynamics with Simon Patterson and her laws after the couple’s separation in 2015.
“It was difficult at the moment after that … But it only lasted a few weeks … We went back to be really good friends.”
Her relationship with her laws “has never changed,” she said.
“I was just their daughter-in-law, they just continued to love me.”
However, she told the court that her relationship with Simon had turned against the October 2022 finance conflicts, and she tried to get her laws to mediate.
