European leaders have called on US President Donald Trump to discuss suggestions for a 30-day termination of fire between Russia and Ukraine on Monday while visiting Kiev.

The call came after the leaders of the so -called “Coalition of Desire” held a meeting to discuss advanced peace talks.

The leaders of France, Germany, the United Kingdom and Poland personally hosted the President of Ukraine Volodimir Zelenski, while others joined remotely.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that the coalition supported “complete and unconditional” ceasefire – initially seasonally seasoned by Trump – and that the EU is ready to “impose additional sanctions” if it is violated.

The presence of the United Kingdom Prime Minister Sir Kiir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and the new German Chancellor Friedrich Merz in the Ukrainian capital was a symbolic response to The More than 20 leaders who joined Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow Friday.

In a joint statement before the visit, they said that “they would stand in Kiev in solidarity with Ukraine against the barbaric and illegal complete invasion of Russia.”

The leaders added: “Along with the United States, we urge Russia to agree to a complete and unconditional 30-day end of fire to create space for conversations about fair and lasting peace.”

A 30-hour ceasefire, unilaterally called by Putin, to celebrate Russia’s Victory Day, must end on Saturday. He observed a decrease in battles, but both sides accused the other of violations.

The Coalition of Desire was formed to strengthen any possible peace agreement with security guarantees, including the possibility of putting troops in Ukraine.

Trump had previously repeated the call for an unconditional 30-day termination of fire after a phone call with Zelenski.

“If the cessation of fire is not respected, the US and its partners will impose additional sanctions,” he wrote in social media.

As the meeting continued, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Russia was already “used for sanctions” and knows how to minimize their impact, adding: “It makes no sense to try to scare us with these sanctions.”

Meanwhile, Dmitry Medvedev, the former Russian president, and now the deputy manager of the Russian Security Council, told European allies to “throw away these peaceful plans.”

Other leaders who joined the meeting remotely included Italy’s Prime Minister Georgia Meloni, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, von der Leyen and Mark Rute, NATO Secretary General.
