Five people were killed in strikes overnight in Russia and Ukraine as the two countries continue to trade in drones attacks.

Ukrainian officials said on Saturday that more than 200 drones and nearly 30 rockets were fired from Russia, most of them aimed at Denipropetrovska, where three people were killed.

In Russia, Rostov’s governor said two people were killed in the region after a car caught fire after a Ukrainian strike of drones.

The attacks came when both countries were updated for their military operations – Russia claims it had taken two villages to the east of Ukraine, while Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski said the troops “are gradually pushing the Russian forces” from the region of sums.

Zelenski said that Russian strikes were also directed to Harkiv and sums and added to X that the strikes “could not be left unanswered, and the long -distance Ukrainian drones guarantee one”.

He added that Russian military sites and airports “should see that Russia’s own war is now hits them with real consequences” and said that the drone attacks of Ukraine were “some of the arguments that will surely bring peace.”

Six people were injured in the strikes of Denipropetrovsk, the region’s head said. In the city of DNiPro, residential blocks and industrial areas were struck, while in the wider area a shopping center was hit.

Also on Saturday, the Russian Ministry of Defense claims that his army has captured two villages, green hi in the Donetsk region and Malivavka in the area of Denpropetrovsk.

In an update of X Zelenski, he said that the Ukrainian forces are pushing Russian troops back into sums.

He said: “Although this region remains one of the priority directions of the enemy, our forces consistently block Russian attempts to pass deeper into the region of sums of border areas.”

There were reports that a village in the region – Kindrativka – was released from Russian control.

Zelenski added that there were “51 intensive combat commitments” in the Pokrovsk region in the Donetsk area of Pokrovsk, where he said the troops were defending positions.

Both sides continue to trading drone attacks after a short third round of negotiations to end the fire in Istanbul was held earlier during the week.

The Ukrainian and Russian delegations met on Wednesday night, but the conversations failed to take steps towards ending the conflict. Both sides accused the other of rejecting their ideas.

The first two rounds of negotiations to end the fire took place in May and June at the request of US President Donald Trump, who repeatedly stated that he wanted to see the end of the “horrible, bloody war”, which was triggered by the invasion of Russia in Ukraine in 2022.
